Beyoncé Says She Donated Nearly $900K To Charity in 2018 & 2019, Absolving Her Of Hefty Tax Bill

Beyoncé is striking back at the IRS, which claims she owes over $2 million in back taxes from several years ago.

The ultimate pocket watchers say Queen Bey still owes $2.69 million from two different years. Per the Internal Revenue Service, Bey owes $805,850 for 2018 and $1,442,747 for 2019. In their Notice of Deficiency, the agency also says she must pay $449,719.40 in penalties for allegedly shortchanging them.

Bey is not taking these figures lightly and has requested a trial in Los Angeles to defend herself and her coins in court. A date for that case has not been announced. However, things may not escalate to that level, as her attorney Michael C. Cohen says they are working with the IRS to resolve the matter quickly. In her argument, the singer’s legal team says at least $868,766 was donated in 2018 and should be counted as deductions. Even if Bey is found liable for the tax bill, she’ll have no issue paying it. In 2022, Forbes estimated that her net worth stands at $450 million.

This legal matter coincides with Bey’s highly anticipated Renaissance tour, which kicks off in May, though it’s improbable the issue will cause any disruption to the 57 show run. This is the first time fans will see her perform on the road since 2016’s Formation World Tour. That sprint was 49 shows and brought in an estimated $256 million.

Beyoncé has not commented publicly on her IRS battle; the inconspicuous queen likely never will.
