In a significant development, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory,  is making a compelling case for early release from incarceration. This comes after a judge’s recent approval to shorten his sentence by 32 months, setting the stage for a potential release in 2025, a full three years ahead of his previously scheduled date.

Flenory, who was originally handed a 30-year prison term for his role in spearheading the Black Mafia Family, an organization involved in widespread drug and weapons trafficking, has seen his fortune grow to $270 million since the 1990s.

The co-founder of the Black Mafia Family might find himself free as early as 2025, thanks to a recent legal push led by his attorney, Brittany K. Barnett of the Buried Alive Project. Barnett’s argument hinges on a revision in the United States Criminal Code, specifically section 18 582(c)(2), influenced by Amendment 821. This amendment advises a recalibration of sentencing guidelines for defendants with a history akin to Flenory’s, potentially deducting points for those with six or fewer infractions.

Flenory’s exemplary conduct during his incarceration has not gone unnoticed. Recognized for his rehabilitation efforts and contributions towards the betterment of fellow inmates, he has been actively involved in leading seminars and maintaining his physical health. Moreover, his initiative to transform the Black Mafia Family’s notoriety into a positive force through the “Build More Families” campaign underscores his commitment to change.
