Naya Rivera’s new single “Sorry,” featuring her boyfriend Big Sean, has some people talking. According to Music Times, the song is framed as an apology to Big Sean’s exes, and near the end Naya name checks several women, including his former girlfriend Brytni.
Brytni was not amused. She responded on Twitter, writing: “Telling your fans who are mostly young girls that its ok to disrespect another woman is foul.” She followed it with “Sorry. Not sorry.”
Brytni also retweeted a fan who was not impressed with the track. At the time of the reports, neither Naya Rivera nor Big Sean had publicly responded to her tweets.
It is worth remembering that a song name check can mean different things to different people. Some listeners will hear a playful nod, others will feel put on the spot. What do you think? Is Brytni making a fair point, or is this much ado about a song?
