It’s being reported that Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin will receive his full salary, despite being placed on Injured Reserve after suffering cardiac arrest during Monday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hamlin’s four-year, $3.64 million contract contains a standard “split” clause that allows the team to pay him less if he ends up on IR. However, sportswriter Ian Rapoport reports that the Bills have reached an agreement with the NFL and the National Football League Players Association to pay him at his full rate.
The Bills overcame an emotional week after Hamlin’s collapse to beat the New England Patriots 35-23 on Sunday. With the win, Buffalo clinched the AFC’s second playoff seed and will play the Miami Dolphins in the wild card next weekend.
