Less than two weeks after 5 year old footage of Billy Bush and Donald Trump making lewd and sexist comments leaked, Bush has officially been fired from his job. Trump, on the other hand, continues to run for president.
NBC and Billy Bush have officially terminated their contract, ending Bush’s run on TODAY. The network has come up with a financial settlement for Bush and although the numbers were not disclosed, sources say Bush was happy with the outcome.
Billy Bush signed a 3-year deal for $3.5 million per year deal when he joined the TODAY show in August. When the Access Hollywood tape with Donald Trump leaked 10 days ago, Bush was quickly suspended. Bush felt the punishment was harsh because he openly talked about the tape with his bosses and was not fired at the time. Bush believes that he is being used as a PR scapegoat.
In an interview with Anderson Cooper, Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, blames the “locker room talk” on Bush, saying that he egged Donald on.
