Black Girls In Media brought its fourth annual Lights, Camera, Influence Summit to Dallas on May 3, drawing more than 300 attendees for a day centered on media careers, content creation, entrepreneurship, and professional development. The event welcomed creators, journalists, publicists, marketers, students, and business owners looking to expand their networks and learn practical strategies for building sustainable careers in the digital media space.
One of the most talked-about moments came during Lex P’s conversation about building the Pour Minds brand alongside co-host Drea Nicole. Reflecting on the podcast’s growth, Lex P credited consistency and authenticity as major factors behind its success. She discussed the realities of entrepreneurship in the creator economy, including fluctuating revenue, team management, and the importance of ownership.
The summit also featured discussions focused on monetization, career positioning, brand partnerships, salary negotiation, and long-term business growth. Attendees participated in networking sessions, professional portrait opportunities, and vendor experiences highlighting Black-owned businesses.
According to event organizers, the Dallas gathering was created to provide both inspiration and actionable tools for professionals navigating the rapidly evolving media landscape. The event’s turnout reflected the growing demand for spaces dedicated to supporting Black women in media, content creation, journalism, marketing, and entertainment.
Following the success of the Dallas summit, Black Girls In Media announced plans to continue expanding its programming, with future events aimed at helping media professionals build community, strengthen their careers, and create lasting opportunities for economic growth and ownership.
