A Black woman is being accused of posing as a white Ku Klux Klan member and sending racially incendiary notes to the houses of families in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood.

On Wednesday, 30-year-old Terresha Lucas was charged with eight counts of terroristic threats and acts. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, she appeared in court for the first time Thursday morning and was denied bond.

Families in Douglasville told WGCL-TV that they had received handwritten notes from a “man” claiming to be a KKK member threatening to kill them.

“The letter is using the N-word, talking about the KKK, hanging people, killing kids, killing whole families, and setting houses on fire,” one father told the station.

According to Atlanta’s Fox 5, the families had been receiving threats since December.

Detective Nathan Shumaker told the station, “The notes threatened to burn their houses down and kill them and said that they didn’t belong in the neighborhood.”

Shumaker and another detective, Andre Futch, tied evidence to Lucas after a months-long inquiry.
