Rachel Ruit makes headlines again, and once again, it is not looking good. Ruit recently received backlash for being overtly racist at a Black Lives Matter event.
Over the weekend, a video of Ruit making vulgar, racist remarks toward protestors went viral on social media. In the video, she repeatedly screamed, “F**** n*****” to people of color.
Following her hateful speech toward Black Americans, Ruit was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct, but the misfortunate events did not stop there.
Roughly two days after the incident, the 41-year-old was struck by a fire department truck, ABC 13 reported. Eyewitness Johnathan Rowell said Ruit had accidentally walked out toward incoming traffic moments before the accident occurred.
What is ironic about this story is that an unidentified black woman stood with Ruit and prayed over her until emergency responders arrived, according to Metro News.
“There were over a dozen bystanders that had come to see what was going on…and then there was 1 lady who was praying out loud & I mean praying very intensely…begging God to please let this lady survive,” Rowell said in a Twitter post.
Rowell recounted the black woman praying in tears for “coincidentally the same woman who was yelling the N-word with such hatred in her heart.”
The accident took place on Patton Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina. Ruit is currently in the hospital with “life-threatening conditions.”
