A nurse in Missouri is no longer employed by Saint Luke’s Health System after photos of her in a blackface Halloween costume spread online.
The nurse, Shelbi, posted photos on her personal Facebook page showing her and another person dressed as Jay Z and Beyonce in blackface. Reports at the time said a woman contacted the hospital about the photos, and the hospital acted quickly.
In a statement, Saint Luke’s said the health system “became aware of a Saint Luke’s East Hospital employee who posted photos on personal social media accounts” and started an investigation right away. The statement said the hospital does not comment on personnel matters but confirmed “this individual is no longer a Saint Luke’s employee.”
The hospital added that it is committed to a culture of diversity and inclusion. Baller Alert has not seen a statement from Shelbi.
