Blair Underwood and his wife Desiree DaCosta are divorcing after nearly three decades of marriage.
The 56-year-old “Set It Off” star and DaCosta, who married in 1994, announced their divorce in a released joint statement on Sunday via Instagram.
“After a tremendous amount of thought, prayer & work on ourselves individually & collectively, we have come to the conclusion to end our marriage that began 27 years ago,” the statement read.
The soon-to-be exes called their marriage “a beautiful journey” that produced their “proudest achievements,” 24-year-old Paris, 19-year-old Blake, and 22-year-old Brielle. They added that they would continue to remain friends and co-parent with “the utmost respect for one another as we embark upon this new chapter of our lives, separately.”
“We thank you all for your support throughout the years & we humbly ask for privacy & understanding during this new season of change,” the statement concluded.
Underwood’s representative, Lee Wallman, also confirmed the couple’s divorce to USA TODAY, though it is still unclear what caused the breakup.
