The latest Blueface arrest came Monday night in Santa Clarita, California, after deputies responded to a swatting call and say the rapper refused to follow their commands. He was booked into the Los Angeles County jail on suspicion of delaying a law enforcement investigation, according to a representative for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Video:
Deputies got the call at 7:43 p.m. reporting a man pointing a gun at someone at a business in Valencia, a neighborhood in Santa Clarita. When they arrived, they detained several people, Blueface included. The sheriff’s rep says he would not follow police commands during the stop, and that is what landed him in jail. By the end of the night, deputies determined there was no gunman. The call was fake.
Swatting means placing a false emergency report to send armed police to someone’s location. The people on the receiving end have no idea why officers are showing up ready for a fight, which is exactly what makes it so dangerous.
Blueface has been dealing with this for months. On August 23, deputies responded to a call about “severe violence” at his King of Crabs seafood restaurant in Santa Clarita while he was livestreaming on Kick with his girlfriend, Nevaeh Akira, and their newborn son. Video from that night showed him being ordered outside with his hands up. He told Akira to take his phone and go back inside, then walked backward toward the deputies. Everyone was released once deputies confirmed no crime had happened.
Around the start of October, deputies were sent to his Los Angeles area home twice. The first time, nobody was there. The second time, deputies and the LA County Fire Department showed up over a call that raised concerns about a child. They left after talking to Blueface and finding no emergency.
This Blueface arrest is the first time one of these hoax calls has ended with him in custody, and the timing is not great for him. He is currently on probation after pleading guilty in connection with a 2022 shooting in Las Vegas. Whether Monday night’s arrest will affect that probation has not been reported.
No one has been publicly identified as the person behind any of the calls. It has also not been reported whether Blueface has been released from custody or what happens next with the delaying allegation.
