Bobby Shmurda Denounces Hip-Hop, Says He No Longer Wants to be Labeled a Rapper: "It's Endangering"

Bobby Shmurda may be distancing himself from rap in the near future, calling out the genre for its negative impacts on kids.

The “Hot N***a” MC, who served over six years behind bars, knows all about rap lyrics being used to convey the wrong messages. Shmurda was partially convicted due to his music, which prosecutors claimed was used to paint pictures of actual crimes. During a recent episode of the “Danza Project” podcast, he expressed his growing disdain for what he’s been hearing as of late.

Around the 53:00 min mark, he says, “You got these f*****g kids following you guys…and you’re f*****g rapping about these lifestyles. It’s endangering. It’s very detrimental, very dangerous to the communities,” Shmurda expressed before adding that many rappers are not living the lives that they are speaking about in their rhymes.

Interestingly, Shmurda’s recent video for “Gwualla” features a gun battle in a trap as he raps, “N***a, I stay with my choppa/You know a top shotta.” Nevertheless, Smurda claims he has become so disengaged that he now only listens to hip-hop in the club but no longer wishes to be a part of the community he once embraced. Instead, he would like to be called an “artist” instead of a rapper.

Joined by fellow artist LouGotCash, who is also on the record “Gwualla,” the 28-year-old made his stance very clear, declaring, “We don’t wanna be a part of the rap game, we don’t want no awards. We don’t wanna be associated with you f*****g rappers, OK? You guys just f*****g talking a lot.”

Maybe fans will get a Shmurda reggae album in the near future. Only time will tell.

You’re right pal, because there’s a big difference between being an MC in hip-hop culture, and being an A.B.C rapper in commercial pop/crap.
