Boosie Doubles Down on His Pool Party Trans Ban and Floats Fighting for ‘Straight Rights’

The rapper answered the backlash by comparing the policy to a dress code and arguing that disagreeing with him is now treated like a crime.

Boosie BadAzz is not backing down. Days after announcing that trans women would not be welcome at his event, the rapper posted a follow up video to address the backlash, and his Boosie pool party defense boils down to a single idea. It is his establishment, and he gets to set the rules.

His central argument leaned entirely on comparison. Boosie likened the policy to the everyday rules that venues enforce all the time, the clear bag requirement at an arena, the no alcohol rule inside certain buildings, the no ripped jeans and no hats signs at upscale restaurants. He even reached for prison visiting room dress codes to drive the point home. The people who own an establishment, he argued, are allowed to decide what they will and will not go for, and to him a Boosie pool party is no different from any other private room with a policy at the door.

From there he pivoted into the part that drew the most fresh heat. Boosie complained that the LGBTQ community spent decades fighting for gay rights while, in his telling, everyone else stayed silent, and he floated the idea that maybe it is time to start fighting for straight rights instead. He cast himself as the one being bullied, arguing that people are no longer even allowed to disagree without being branded offensive. In his framing, holding a line at his own party is the thing under attack, not the people being turned away from it.

He also tried to sell the policy as protection. Boosie said his crowd is full of real players, name checking NBA figures, NFL players, attorneys, and rappers, and claimed he is shielding their reputations by controlling who gets through the door. He insisted he does not want anyone mistreated, that he is actually looking out for people, and that the whole thing is simply about running his own establishment the way he sees fit, before declaring that the world has gone out of control.

The video is damage control for a firestorm Boosie lit himself. His original announcement did not stop at a guest policy. It leaned on an anti-trans slur and a list of physical features he claimed his team would screen for at the door, paired with screenshots of a private message from someone who had asked to buy a ticket. That post drew immediate condemnation from fans, LGBTQ advocates, and fellow entertainers, which is exactly what sent him back online to explain a Boosie pool party rule that needed no explaining if it had been the simple dress code he now claims it is.

None of this exists in a vacuum. Boosie has a long record on the subject, most memorably the 2020 tirade he aimed at Dwyane Wade over the NBA star’s support for his daughter Zaya, who is transgender. The pattern has trailed him for years, and it has surfaced inside his own family. His daughter, Poison Ivi, has publicly called him a hypocrite, noting that the same parties he markets on pure shock value have featured women being intimate with women while he draws hard lines on who counts as welcome.

Critics were quick to poke holes in the dress code framing. A clear bag or a pair of ripped jeans is a choice a person makes before they leave the house, the argument goes, while a person’s gender identity is not an accessory they can swap out to satisfy a bouncer. The straight rights line got mocked across timelines too, with plenty of people pointing out that straight men have never once lacked the rights Boosie is suddenly demanding for himself. The comparison to a no hats sign, they argued, only works if you already see a group of people as a wardrobe violation.

For Boosie, the message is the same one he started with, just dressed up now in the language of property rights and personal freedom. It is his establishment, his rules, and his comfort with the noise that comes attached. Whether the players and bosses he says fill the room feel good about being used as the justification is a different conversation, and one he did not seem interested in having.
