BossMan Dlow just secured one of the more unexpected music co signs of the summer after Barack Obama placed “Motion Party” on his 2026 summer playlist. Obama shared the annual collection on Thursday, July 30, telling followers, “Here are some of the songs I’ve been listening to this summer.” His list puts Dlow’s breakout 2026 record in a collection that moves freely between contemporary rap, R&B, soul, rock, gospel, jazz, and international music.

The placement immediately makes BossMan Dlow one of the most conversation worthy names on a list filled with established legends and current favorites. The playlist contains more than 40 songs, including Doechii and SZA’s “girl, get up.,” Vince Staples’ “White Flag,” Fred Hammond’s “I Feel Good,” Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On,” Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody,” A Tribe Called Quest’s “Award Tour,” and Nina Simone’s “In the Dark.” Drake, Kelela, RAYE, Anderson .Paak, David Bowie, The Beatles, and Johnny Cash also appear in the mix.
For Dlow, the timing could not be better. “Motion Party” arrived March 13, 2026. The song quickly became a centerpiece of Dlow’s latest run and later appeared on his “Chicken Talkin Bastard” project.
That selection also comes after “Motion Party” had already shown real commercial movement. In its announcement surrounding “Chicken Talkin Bastard,” the record became the No. 1 most added song at Urban Radio and entered the Billboard Hot 100. By June,“Motion Party” had reached No. 37 on the chart.
The Obama placement feels especially on brand because BossMan Dlow has built much of his appeal around the idea of motion itself. Speaking with XXL in April about “Chicken Talkin Bastard” and the mentality behind his music, Dlow summed up his lane simply: “I’m a motion rapper. I rap motion.” “Motion Party” remains the biggest hit from the album.
There is also a funny full circle layer to Barack Obama choosing Dlow. Long before “Motion Party” made the 2026 summer playlist, BossMan Dlow already had Obama’s name sitting in his catalog. Dlow’s 2024 project includes “Obama Runtz” featuring Wizz Havinn. Two years later, the connection has flipped. Instead of Obama existing as part of a BossMan Dlow song title, a BossMan Dlow song is now sitting on Obama’s own playlist.
His record is now sharing space in the Obama musical orbit with Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, A Tribe Called Quest, Nina Simone, and The Beatles, while sitting alongside some of the most visible contemporary names in music.
For BossMan Dlow, that kind of placement adds another chapter to a run built on making motion feel like both a sound and a philosophy. “Motion Party” had already reached the Hot 100, earned a Megan Thee Stallion remix, and drawn Song of the Summer attention before Obama added it to his own seasonal soundtrack.
At this point, the question is not whether BossMan Dlow has motion. It is how much bigger the party gets after Barack Obama stamped the invite.
