Britney Spear’s ex-husband Kevin Federline has broken his silence about his ex-wife’s recent actions that apparently affects their two sons so much that they have chosen not to see her for months.
The two share two children, Sean Preston, 16, and 15-year-old Jayden. The pop star’s life has continued to dominate headlines surrounding family lawsuits and harsh words on social media, which has always made Kevin work hard at keeping them out of the limelight.
He’s remained mainly quiet regarding the mother of his children, but he has since decided to speak up on some issues.
In a series of exclusive interviews, parts of which will be aired on ITV news this week, the former backup dancer and his family shared that the kids have not chosen not to see their mother for many months.
Spears married American-Iranian model Sam Asghari, 28, in June and even bought a £ 10 million mansion near the Federline family home in Los Angeles, the Daily Mail reported.
‘The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now,’ Kevin reveals. ‘It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.’
He also says that her controversial 13-year conservatorship placed by her father Jamie ‘saved’ her. Spears was finally released from the arrangement last November.
‘This whole thing has been hard to watch, harder to live through, harder to watch my boys go through than anything else,’ he says. ‘It’s been tough. It’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.’
Following her release from her conservatorship last year, the star has garnered a lot of attention and has posted nude selfies on social media. Kevin says he felt compelled to apologize to their kids for any flak they experienced because of their mom’s behavior.
He insists the boys love their mother, adding: ‘I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. It’s tough.’ He says: ‘I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school.’
While he and the boys show compassion to Britney, Kevin says he is speaking out about his former wife, not for retribution but to show a hitherto untold side of the story.
