Sources Say: Lakers Considering Drafting Bronny James to Keep Lebron and Fulfill His Wishes

Bronny James has decided where he will play basketball next year. The oldest son of LeBron James announced his commitment to USC in an Instagram post on Saturday.

“Fight On✌🏾#committed,” he captioned the post, using the school’s slogan. Bronny included a photo of himself donning his high school uniform while standing in the Trojan’s locker room.

Bronny, 18, played for Sierra Canyon School and is rated one of the top five point guards in the country, according to ESPN. He was listed No. 19 on ESPN’s 2023 list of Top 100 Prospects and was a McDonald’s All-American.

LeBron also shared the announcement on his Instagram using the school’s “Fight On!” slogan.

” So damn proud of you kid!” he wrote. “I have no words besides I LOVE YOU.”

LeBron congratulated his son after the Los Angeles Lakers won in Game 3 over Golden State Warriors 127-97.

“Congratulations to my son on his next journey, on picking a great university,” he said. “I’m proud of him.”

Looking back, LeBron reflected on the fact that Bronny might be the first in the family to go to college. He referred to it as a “humbling” experience.

“Obviously, his dad didn’t go to school. His mom (Savannah) didn’t go to college. My mom (Gloria) maybe stepped on campus for a little bit, maybe a community college or something, but she had (me) running around, so she couldn’t spend much time in the classroom,” LeBron said. “It’s very, very, very, very exciting, very humbling, and a great moment for our family.”

LeBron also reiterated his desire to play in the NBA with his son but noted that it might not be something the younger James wants.

“I was serious, and I’m still serious about it,” he said before adding, “Just because it’s my aspiration, it doesn’t mean it’s his. It’s not what you want. It’s about listening to your kids and what they want.”
