According to The Hill, FBI agents raided a Mercer County, Philadelphia home searching for a woman they identified as one of January’s Capitol breach rioters.
Rachel Powell, also known as the “bullhorn lady,” is wanted by the agency, a spokesperson confirmed to CBS affiliate KDKA. During the breach, Powell wore a distinctive pink hat.
“We are conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity at that location. We are seeking the whereabouts of Rachel Powell,” an FBI official told the outlet.
Ronan Farrow of The New Yorker identified Powell in an investigative piece published earlier this week. Farrow described her as a “forty-year-old mother of eight from western Pennsylvania.” Over the past year, Powell purportedly began falling for conspiracy theories.
“People should probably coordinate together if you’re going to take this building,” she is heard saying in videos of the Jan. 6 riot compiled by The New Yorker, reportedly adding: “We got another window to break to make in-and-out easy.”
Powell admitted it was her in the videos but declined to comment on whether she directed people into the Capitol on January 6. The violent insurrection left five people dead.
“Listen, if somebody doesn’t help and direct people, then do more people die?” she told The New Yorker. “That’s all I’m going to say about that. I can’t say anymore. I need to talk to an attorney.
