A California school district has an optional curriculum that includes education about at least ten different sexual orientations.

In Newport-Mesa’s school district, health education textbooks called “Comprehensive Health Skills for High School” include information about various gender identities. The textbook claims that there are ten sexual orientations and eight different gender identities, including non-binary, bygender, gender-nonconforming, and androgynous.

Some of the sexual orientations included polysexual, skoliosexual, and demisexual. In another textbook called “Comprehensive Health,” kids are able to create their own gender identities.

In a statement to Fox News, the district said: “We follow the state-adopted standards for health education, which includes sexual health. We use a state-approved health curriculum with select modules, taught by credentialed teachers.”

It continued saying parents can choose not to have their children go through the course.

“Parents can opt out their child from participating in comprehensive sex education. Parents also have the ability to review all curriculum taught in our schools so that they can be well-informed and make the best decisions for their child. We understand that there are varying viewpoints and beliefs and we follow California State Standards for curriculum, while also supporting parent choice,” the district’s statement continued.
