Cardi B speaks out on the incident in Las Vegas where she threw a microphone at a fan, a situation that could’ve resulted in a felony charge.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club, the rapper discussed how the incident had a more profound impact on her than she initially revealed.
“It was a really quick reaction,” Cardi began. “And let me tell you, I didn’t want to address it, because I thought a bitch gon’ go to jail. But I’m not.”
She added, “Let me tell you something, it was hot as f*ck. That Vegas heat ain’t no joke. That sh*t was hot. It was hotter than a muthaf*cka. So there was a part of the show where I told people, like, you know, ‘Splash me.’ But even when I told them, ‘Splash me,’ I was like, ‘Be careful with the face. Because the face is beat, b*tch.’ So, f*cking four songs after, nobody had splashed me. I told y’all to splash me for one little second. So four songs after, which is, I don’t know, 15, 20 minutes after, this b*tch threw water and ice on my face. So I just automatically reacted.”
Last month, it came to light that Cardi would not be facing criminal charges for the microphone incident that transpired in July. The rapper’s legal team, comprised of attorneys Drew Findling, David Chesnoff, and Richard Schonfeld, issued a statement regarding the incident shortly after it occurred.
“This afternoon we were notified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept., that as a result of their investigation, there will be NO charges against Cardi,” they said. “On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept’s diligent and prompt resolution of this matter.”
