Cardi B and Patti LaBelle are teaming up for the holidays!
The two musicians recently sat down with PEOPLE magazine regarding a collaborative venture for their respective dessert offerings: Cardi’s Whipshots, an alcoholic whipped cream, and Patti’s Good Life pies. Despite not having formally met before this partnership, LaBelle expressed a sense that she and the rapper were destined to collaborate for quite some time.
“I’ve been her mother in my mind for a long time because she’s just all that and a bag of chips. And I’m all that and a bag of chips,” LaBelle said.
Cardi also agreed that their partnership had been a long-awaited event, yet she admitted feeling a bit anxious about meeting the R&B legend.
“I feel like I’m not worthy, I just feel so shook!” Cardi added. “I’m super starstruck. I’m on my best behavior.”
The campaign teaser includes a sitcom-style editing approach to show LaBelle warmly welcoming Cardi into her home. Accompanied by cheerful music in the background, the video features rapid scene cuts of the musical icons hugging, toasting with glasses of wine, sharing laughter, and indulging in pie topped with whipped cream. Additionally, in the extended clip, Cardi rings the doorbell at LaBelle’s residence and is immediately embraced with a heartfelt hug. Amid their enthusiastic expressions of joy, LaBelle begins to share something with Cardi.
“We’re going to try your Whipshots with my Patti pie,” LaBelle explained with Cardi responding, “Let’s do pumpkin!”
