Cardi B had Indianapolis fans laughing during her latest tour stop, but the story behind the joke was actually a scary moment from the past.

The Bronx rapper hit the stage Saturday night, March 14, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse during her sold-out Little Miss Drama Tour stop in the city. While warming up the crowd before performing her hit “I Like It,” Cardi took a moment to remind fans about the time a previous Indianapolis show had to be postponed after a bomb threat was reported just before she was scheduled to perform.
Speaking directly to the audience, Cardi recalled how serious the situation felt in the moment.
“They sent a terroristic threat! They said they was gonna bomb our show,” Bardi told the crowd. “I was like, ‘Hold on, motherf**kers. They want to bomb me?’ B***h, I was scared! And everybody online was cursing me out … saying that I was lying and shit. But I would never do that to y’all. I would never cancel on y’all. But safety first, motherf**kers!”
Her comments referred to a July 30, 2019, show at the same arena, which was called Bankers Life Fieldhouse at the time. That concert was canceled shortly before showtime after authorities received what police described as an “unverified threat” directed toward the artist.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, there was no immediate danger to the public, but the event was postponed while officers investigated the situation.
Thankfully, the city has welcomed Cardi B for a redo with open arms.
