Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford is in a custody dispute with Amy, the mother of two of his children, and he wants a judge to step in before she relocates to California. The news comes as Crawford and Evelyn Lozada are expecting their first child together.
According to TMZ, which cited court filings, Amy lived in Arizona for about 12 years while raising the children, a 9 year old son and a 5 month old daughter. Crawford claims in the documents that everything was fine until October, when she moved to California, took their son out of school and listed the family home for sale.
Crawford reportedly believes the move is mostly about California’s child support laws, which he says are more favorable than the ones in Arizona. He is asking the court to stop her from relocating the children. Amy has a different explanation. According to TMZ, she says she moved so the kids can be closer to their father.
TMZ also noted that Crawford’s request sounds a lot like the one Steve Nash made when he tried to block his ex from moving to Los Angeles after he joined the Lakers. TMZ said it reached out to both sides and neither had commented when the story was published.
For now, these are claims from a court filing and the judge has not ruled. We will keep you posted if either side speaks up.
