Carpool lanes in Virginia could possibly recognize fetuses as passengers when determining occupancy.

According to Virginia’s HB 1894,  a “pregnant woman shall be considered two people for the purposes of determining occupancy” when driving in high occupancy toll lanes across Virginia.

“Proof of pregnancy” will need to be provided to the Transportation Department if the bill is passed.

A toll collection device, such as an E-Z Pass, would then store this information.
Pro-choice activists worry that the state’s so-called “personhood” laws will undermine abortion access.
Since Virginia’s state legislature is currently divided between the Republican-controlled House of Delegates and the Democratic-controlled Senate, the bill is unlikely to pass.
For the first time since Roe v. Wade was overturned last June, Virginia’s General Assembly is expected to discuss abortion regulations.
Republicans in Virginia introduced a bill on Wednesday that would outlaw abortions performed after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Such BS. Car pool lanes were built to take cars off the road. Pretty sure fetus’ can’t drive.
