Cassie Ventura’s cross-examination in Diddy’s federal trial took a sharp turn when his legal team read a string of intimate text messages aloud in court. The messages, shared with jurors, appeared to show Cassie actively participating in the sexually charged “freak offs” she now says left her feeling used and degraded.
One of the most talked-about messages was from 2009, where Cassie wrote that she was “always ready to freak off,” suggesting anytime worked for her. The defense used that to argue that the encounters were mutual and not coerced.
Other messages read in court included Cassie telling Diddy she wanted to have sex, with Diddy responding that he was “too horny to concentrate.” Cassie followed up saying she’d pick up candles and set the mood. Another message read aloud included graphic sexual language, which the defense used to push the idea of enthusiasm and consent.
Diddy’s lawyer also asked Cassie if he taught her how to perform certain sex acts. She confirmed he did. When asked to read a more affectionate message aloud, Cassie declined, saying it made her laugh, and allowed the attorney to read it instead.
Diddy’s defense is to present their past sexual relationship as consensual and passionate, not criminal.
The trial continues as more testimony and evidence are expected in the days ahead.
