People are not here for CBS’s new competition series centered around activism.

The reality series “The Activist” is a competition show featuring six inspiring activists who have teamed up with three high-profile public figures.

The teams will work together to bring meaning to their cause, centered around vital causes: health, education, and the environment.

The show has garnered heavy criticism on social media even though it has yet to air.

Usher, Priyanka Chopra, and Julianne Hough are set to co-host the Global Citizen-produced series, the New York Post reported.

The activists will compete against one another to promote their causes, and their success will be measured through the use of social media engagement and hosts judgment.

The goal of the three teams is to make an effective movement that will “amplify their message, drive action and advance then to the G20 Summit in Rome, Italy,” Deadline reported.

The show’s focus has caused widespread fiery trolling across Twitter.

Actress Jameela Jamil wrote, “Couldn’t they just give the money it’s going to take to pay this UNBELIEVABLY expensive talent and make this show, directly to activist causes? Rather than turning activism into a game and then giving a fraction of the much needed money away in a ‘prize…?’ People are dying.”

“I go on the activist reality show and do this and everyone including the judges are screaming and crying,” a user wrote, including an image of Kendall Jenner from her ill-fated Pepsi commercial.

“1. Why the hell are they judging this 2. Why the hell is there a TV show that turns activist into a competition when the whole *essense* of activism is solidarity and community. This is the absolute worst,” another user questioned.

The show will air over 5 weeks on CBS starting October 22.

Will you tune in?

Couldn’t they just give the money it’s going to take to pay this UNBELIEVABLY expensive talent and make this show, directly to activist causes? Rather than turning activism into a game and then giving a fraction of the much needed money away in a “prize…?” People are dying. https://t.co/GLCUZcGgfb
