The drama just continues to implode.
As Kyrie Irving is awaiting news on whether he can return to the NBA after his suspension, some celebrities have been campaigning against Amazon since the streaming platform still has the antisemitic film and book available, which Irving supported.
According to Variety, Mila Kunis and over 200 celebrities and executives have signed an open letter to Amazon calling for the streaming giant to take down the film, “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America,” ASAP.
In addition to Mila Kunis, Debra Messing and Mayim Bialik have joined the list of signers. “Additional signers of the statement include Sherry Lansing, former CEO of Paramount Pictures; Haim Saban, chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group; Orly Marley, president of Tuff Gong Worldwide; Rick Rosen, Endeavor co-founder; Disturbed frontman David Draiman; Nina Tassler, co-founder of PatMa Productions; songwriter Diane Warren; comedian Iliza Shlesinger; Ben Silverman, chairman and co-chief executive officer of Propagate Content; and actors Tracy-Ann Oberman and Emmanuelle Chriqui.”
The letter reads, “Hebrews to Negroes” was recently promoted by Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving on Twitter, boosting the title to a bestseller on Amazon. According to a statement from Creative Community for Peace, “both Amazon and Barnes & Noble have refused to remove the title and continue to profit from its bigotry.”
Since Irving shared the film on Twitter, he’s been suspended from the NBA and his Nike shoe line was dropped effective immediately. He’s also had to donate $500,000 to the Anti-Defamation League.
