New details are emerging about Amy, the woman who called 911 on bird watcher Christian after he asked her to leash her dog in New York’s Central Park. According to The New York Times, several of her neighbors say the Central Park confrontation was not the first time she had clashed with people over her dog.
The Times reported that neighbors described Amy as someone who often got into disagreements with other dog walkers and with building staff, including residents who asked her to leash her cocker spaniel. One neighbor, Marisol De Leon, told the paper that Amy often walked the dog without a leash and became upset when people asked her to stop. “There was a sense of entitlement,” De Leon said.
Another neighbor, Alison Faircloth, recalled an incident last winter when she found Amy upset outside the building lobby. Faircloth said Amy told her a doorman had cursed at her for no reason and that she planned to get him fired. Faircloth said she later asked the doorman about it and was told that the dispute began with an argument over a broken elevator. “There’s always a narrative from her about someone who has done her wrong,” Faircloth told the Times.
These accounts come from neighbors and have not been independently verified by Baller Alert. Amy did not respond to the Times in the reporting we reviewed.
The Central Park incident has already cost her. She was fired from her job at Franklin Templeton and gave up her dog to the rescue group that had placed it with her. She later issued a public apology, saying in part that she “reacted emotionally and made false assumptions” about Christian’s intentions.
