The shocking assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a campus event at Utah Valley University, officials have confirmed that the elderly man initially detained at the scene is not the shooter. That man has since been cleared of any involvement in the killing.
Kirk, 31, was speaking during a stop on his “American Comeback Tour” when he was shot in the head or neck from a distance of about 200 yards. The chaos that followed included panic among attendees and the temporary detention of an older man nearby, who authorities initially believed might be involved.
Now, law enforcement says that man had nothing to do with the shooting. No charges were filed, and he has been released. The shooter, however, remains unidentified and at large.
