The head of a charter jet company is in police custody in New York after authorities say he tried to offer two underage girls to an undercover officer. The New York Attorney General’s office and the NYPD announced the arrest.
Authorities identified the man as Paul, 57, and described him as a previously convicted sex offender. According to the Daily News, the arrest on Thursday ended a months long investigation nicknamed Operation Mile High.
Investigators say the case began in March, when a teenage girl came forward and told authorities that Paul had trafficked her and other young girls. That prompted the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force and the NYPD Human Trafficking Squad to open an investigation.
Prosecutors say the girls were from the Bronx and were offered to wealthy clients across New York City. During a meeting with the undercover officer, prosecutors say, Paul offered two girls, ages 12 and 14.
Paul is charged with sex trafficking of a child, attempted sex trafficking, endangering the welfare of a child and prostitution. He is being held without bail in Bronx Criminal Court and was set to be arraigned on Friday.
The charges are allegations, and he has not been convicted of these offenses. It was not clear at the time of reporting whether Paul had entered a plea or responded to the charges.
