Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Chad Wheeler was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony domestic violence, according to court records and Kent Police Department reports.
Records show Chad was booked into the King County Correctional Facility at 1:19 a.m. Saturday. Police say an officer responded to a call from a woman who had locked herself in a bathroom at a Kent residence after a physical fight with her boyfriend. According to the records, Chad is suspected of throwing the woman onto a bed and choking her until she lost consciousness, then picking the lock on the bathroom door.
On Monday, a judge set his bail at $400,000 and ordered him to stay away from the alleged victim and surrender any weapons. He has since bonded out of King County Jail and is due back in King County District Court for a probable cause hearing.
Chad joined the Seahawks in October 2019, played five games this season, and is a restricted free agent.
In a statement Monday night, the Seahawks said, “We are aware of the situation and still gathering information.” A response from Chad was not available at the time of this report. He has not been convicted of any charge.
