Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has filed a lawsuit against his ex-fiancée, Tia Jones, accusing her of defamation, assault, and theft following her recent claims that led to his arrest earlier this month.
The 21-year-old NFL star filed the civil suit Monday in Williamson County, Texas, just two weeks after he was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence. Prosecutors later declined to pursue charges, and Worthy was released shortly after. Now, Worthy is seeking between $250,000 and $1 million in damages, claiming that Jones fabricated the allegations.
In the lawsuit, Worthy alleges that Jones, a former track and field athlete, became violent and destructive after he asked her to move out of the $2 million home they shared. The request reportedly came after Worthy learned—via a private investigator—that Jones had allegedly been unfaithful. He claims she responded by ripping out his hair and destroying his game room, causing over $150,000 in damages.
The lawsuit further alleges that Jones stole $30,000 in cash, jewelry, a firearm, and the keys to his Rolls Royce while Worthy was being held in jail. He’s also seeking a jury trial.
Court records show both Jones and Worthy have filed for protective orders against one another.
The couple had been engaged since July 2024 and had recently moved into their first home together. Their relationship, once documented on social media, has now devolved into a legal battle that could play out in court for months.
Worthy was a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and quickly became one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ go-to targets in his rookie season.
