Childish Gambino is being sued by a rapper who claims his hit song “This Is America” is a rip-off of his song.

A man named Emelike Nwosuocha, who uses the rap name Kidd Wes, claims Childish Gambino blatantly ripped off his song, “Made in America.”

In his lawsuit, Nwosuocha claims his song “Made in America” was all over the internet almost two full years before Gambino’s song was released.

Kidd Wes said he created his track on SoundCloud back in September of 2016 and released it on YouTube a couple of months later, where people could access it and listen to it for free.

Nwosuocha also claims he registered the song with the U.S Copyright Office in May 2017, and it was set to be the lead single on his upcoming album at the time.

Gambino’s “This Is America” song was released the next year and went on to become one of the biggest songs of 2018, even winning a Grammy for “Record of the Year.”

Kidd Wes claims the chorus of both songs is “unmistakably substantially similar, if not practically identical,” and the rapper said that Gambino’s “flow” on the song is a direct copy as well.
