JR Smith’s sister was escorted out of one of his games in China after a fight with a fan in the stands.
Smith, the former Denver Nugget, is playing for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he signed during the NBA lockout. According to reports from the game against the Bayi Rockets, things went bad after Smith was fouled and no call was made.
Reports say his sister threw a bottle onto the court, and things escalated from there into a fight with a fan. Photos from the game show the two tangled up in the stands. She was eventually escorted out of the arena.
It’s not clear what happened before the photos were taken, or whether the fan said something to set her off. There has to be more to this story, and so far neither JR nor his family has said anything publicly.
Supporting your brother is one thing. Fighting in the stands in a foreign country is another.
