$2.50 Tacos? Chipotle Tests New Happy Hour but Only 3 Cities Made the Cut

Chipotle is stepping into the happy hour chat with a new deal that’s hard to ignore.

The fast-casual giant Chipotle Mexican Grill is introducing “Power Up at Chipotle,” a limited-time promotion featuring $2.50 tacos, available weekdays from 2 to 5 p.m. in select markets through June 2. The deal is currently live in Kansas City, Orlando, and Tampa, giving fans a budget-friendly reason to slide through during that mid-day slump.

Customers can choose soft or crispy tacos with any protein, including the buzzworthy Chipotle Honey Chicken, all priced at just $2.50 each. Premium add-ons like guacamole, queso blanco, and extra protein will cost more, but the base price alone is already catching attention.

Chipotle says the move is all about tapping into what it calls “the afternoon snacking moment,” citing data that shows 52% of consumers view 2 to 5 p.m. as their peak snack window. “The offering is perfect for a snack after school, before practice, between classes, or as a midday meet-up with friends,” the brand said in a statement.

CEO Scott Boatwright also pointed to the strategy during an April earnings call, saying, “We’re testing a ‘happier hour’ from $2 to $5 with tacos at $2.50.”

The company added it will “listen, test and learn from customer feedback” before deciding on a wider rollout, leaving the door open for this snack-time play to go nationwide.
