Chris Brown appears to be taking shots at Rihanna on his new freestyle, and it looks like Rihanna noticed.
Chris dropped his version of Kanye West’s “Theraflu,” and fans immediately zeroed in on a verse about his “old” girl. Without naming anyone, Chris raps that his ex has been with half the industry, and he uses some very disrespectful language to say it. Most listeners took it as a direct shot at Rihanna.
It’s a big turn for the former couple. Just a few months ago they were collaborating on the “Birthday Cake” remix, and fans were wondering if they were getting back together.
Rihanna seemed to answer quickly. She posted a tweet many fans read as a response, and then unfollowed Chris on Twitter.
Whatever happened between them, this was not the way to handle it. After everything that happened in 2009, Rihanna was willing to work with Chris again. Putting her on blast in a verse, especially in language like that, is a bad look, and fans are letting him know it.
