Brothers Christian Combs and Quincy Brown are stepping up to protect their late mother’s memory from what they believe is an exploitative move. They have issued a cease and desist letter to a man named Courtney Burgess and his lawyer, Ariel Mitchell, over the online sale of a book titled Kim Porter Tell It All. Marketed under the alias Jamal Millwood, the book allegedly contains private diary entries belonging to Kim Porter, who passed away in 2018.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Christian and Quincy argue that as Kim Porter’s rightful heirs, they own all intellectual property tied to their mother’s legacy. Any diary entries or writings that may have belonged to her fall under their legal purview, making the book’s release both unauthorized and illegal in their eyes.

Burgess has claimed in multiple interviews that the book draws from an “unedited” version of Kim Porter’s writings, supposedly sourced from a flash drive given to him by people close to Kim. The brothers vehemently deny these claims, calling the narrative “patently false” and accusing Burgess of misleading the public for profit. Even if such a flash drive exists, they assert it would legally be in their possession as Kim’s direct heirs.

Burgess’ activities have also drawn attention from federal authorities. He and his lawyer revealed during a recent trip to New York City that they met with federal prosecutors, who seized Burgess’ phone allegedly containing the disputed flash drive’s data.

Christian and Quincy have given Burgess five days to comply with their demands: cease selling the book, stop making public statements regarding its contents, and surrender any possessions of Kim’s that he claims to have. They are also seeking an accounting of all earnings generated by the book to date.
