A Tennessee livestreamer already known online for inflammatory videos and public confrontations is now facing attempted murder charges after a shooting outside a courthouse left two men wounded. Dalton Eatherly, who posts online under the name “Chud the Builder,” was arrested Wednesday after authorities said a physical altercation outside the Montgomery County Court Complex in Clarksville escalated into gunfire.

According to investigators, the 28-year-old had appeared at the courthouse earlier that day for a scheduled hearing connected to a debt collection case involving Midland Credit Management. Authorities said Eatherly later approached another man outside the building shortly before shots were fired around 1:20 p.m.
Police said the second man suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach and was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he remained in stable condition Thursday. Eatherly was also injured from what officials described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound before being taken into custody after treatment.
“Thanks to the quick actions of our courthouse deputies, this situation was likely kept from becoming much worse,” Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson said in a statement. “Their dedication to keeping the courthouse safe was clearly demonstrated today.”
Eatherly now faces charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and employing a firearm during a dangerous felony. Jail records show he remained held without bond pending arraignment.
The livestreamer had already drawn backlash in Tennessee over videos featuring racial slurs, confrontational behavior, and firearms. Local critics and political groups previously raised concerns about his online conduct, with the Montgomery County Democratic Party accusing him of trying to build notoriety through racist content.
The courthouse shooting came less than a week after Eatherly’s arrest in Nashville, where police said he caused a disturbance at a steakhouse after refusing to pay a $371 bill while livestreaming inside the restaurant.
