This week’s New Music Friday belongs entirely to one man. Drake didn’t just drop an album — he dropped three, delivering one of the most ambitious single-night releases in hip-hop history and reminding the world exactly why he’s still the 6 God.
Drake leads this week’s drops with “ICEMAN,” his ninth solo studio album via OVO Sound and Republic Records, and his first full-length solo effort since 2023’s “For All the Dogs.” But he didn’t stop there. Simultaneously at midnight ET, Drake also released two additional projects — “Maid of Honour”and “Habibti”— for a combined 43 tracks across three distinct bodies of work. The announcement blindsided fans during the fourth and final installment of his “Iceman Episode” YouTube livestream series, where he unveiled all three album covers on Instagram before everything hit streaming at once. The rollout leading up to the drop was nothing short of cinematic: a 25-foot ice sculpture installed in downtown Toronto with the release date hidden inside, Iceman-branded trucks driving through city streets, and three prior livestream episodes filmed in Toronto, Manchester, and Milan. The “ICEMAN” cover features a diamond-encrusted white glove reminiscent of Michael Jackson, with a bracelet spelling out the album name.
ICEMAN” is the headline project — 18 tracks of confrontational hip-hop production that directly addresses the fallout from Drake’s highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar while also exploring themes of legacy, fractured friendships, and self-reflection. The album features Future and Molly Santana on “Ran to Atlanta” and 21 Savage on “B’s on the Table,” with previously released single “What Did I Miss?” also making the final cut.
“Maid of Honour” shifts into lighter territory across 14 tracks of melodic, dance-influenced production. The cover is deeply personal — a photo of Drake’s mother, Sandi Graham, with a faint overlay of baby Drake. Fans will recognize the already-released “Which One” featuring Central Cee, while new additions include Sexyy Red on “Cheetah Print” and Popcaan on “Amazing Shape,” continuing a creative relationship stretching back to Views and More Life.
“Habibti” — Arabic for “my love” — rounds out the trilogy with 11 tracks of smooth, internationally influenced R&B. PARTYNEXTDOOR reunites with Drake on “Fortworth,” a natural pairing after their 2025 collaborative album Some “Sexy Songs 4 U,” while Sexyy Red returns for “Hurrr Nor Thurrr” and Loe Shimmy appears on “I’m Spent.”
This week’s New Music Friday is historic. Whether you’re here for the lyrical aggression of “ICEMAN,” the good-time energy of “Maid of Honour,” or the late-night smoothness of “Habibti,” Drake has made sure there is something for everyone.
