The “GWOAT” Claressa Shields is making it clear that if you come for her crown, you’re going to get pushed back, literally.
During the weigh-in on Saturday, things went sideways when Shields aggressively shoved her opponent, Franchón Crews-Dezurn, following an alleged headbutt attempt. The moment was caught in a viral video, as security and entourages scrambled to intervene, one familiar face was front and center.
Papoose, Shields’ boyfriend, proved once again that he is exactly who he says he is when it comes to his lady. Papoose didn’t hesitate to jump into the chaos to de-escalate the situation in attempts to protect Shields. Eyewitness accounts and video frames show him moving forward during the altercation, with people actually having to hold him back as he tried to ensure the champ’s safety.
Shields wasn’t about to let the internet spin a narrative, though. Taking to X to set the record straight, she clapped back at critics, stating, “Who tf head butts someone at weigh in!!!! Damn right she got pushed! She’s trying to throw the fight!!!! Cause she scared!!!!!”
This isn’t the first time Papoose has had to step up for the Hall of Famer. Back in October 2025, he made headlines for confronting comedian Gerald Huston, who repeatedly “mistook” Shields for Serena Williams in a disrespectful way. That incident allegedly led to Papoose landing a punch to defend her honor, a move Shields later praised by recounting, “My man, my man, my man.”
As Shields prepares to step into the ring against Franchón Crews-Dezurn, this weigh-in scuffle is only fueling the fire for the match.
