A woman has told Miami police about an April 1 incident involving San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and two other NFL players, and police say there is an open investigation, according to TMZ Sports. Here is what was reported as of April 10, 2014.
TMZ obtained the Miami police report. In it, the woman says she went to a residence at the Viceroy Hotel to spend time with Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette. She says Kaepernick and 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton were also there. She told police she mixed drinks for the men and that they said she had to take a hit from a bong containing marijuana before she could have a shot.
The woman told police she began to feel lightheaded and went to lie down in a bedroom. She says Kaepernick came into the room and began kissing her, and the report states that the two did not have sex. She also told police that Patton and Lockette opened the door and looked inside, that she told them to leave, and that she does not remember what happened after that. She says she later woke up in a hospital and does not know how she got there. She also told police she had a past relationship with Kaepernick.
Her name was redacted from the report. Police described the matter as a suspicious incident, and TMZ noted the case was referred to the department’s Special Victims unit.
No charges had been filed as of April 10. Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes told NBC that it is an open investigation involving all three players and that police are still determining whether anyone did anything wrong. 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said the team was gathering the facts. NBC reported that attempts to reach Kaepernick, Lockette and Patton for comment were unsuccessful, and that 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock believed the investigation was a hoax.
This is an early stage investigation and the account above comes from one person’s statement to police. None of the men involved had publicly responded at the time of this report.
