What in the dickens! A Colombian judge is in hot water after presiding over a virtual hearing wearing underwear and smoking a cigarette.
Judge Vivian Polania, 34, is known for posting racy pictures on Instagram but she went a step further by appearing earlier this week at the Zoom court hearing smoking a cigarette in her underwear.
She has been suspended for three months for violating multiple regulations.
Not that it makes a difference, but the case at hand was about whether an incarcerated man charged with a car bomb terror attack should get bail. Polania, who was also in bed during the hearing, claimed she had low blood pressure and an anxiety attack at the time, Complex reported.
The Judicial Disciplinary Commission in Norte de Santander has launched an investigation into the incident.
“It is a duty of this commission to avoid repeating the judge’s contempt for the investiture of her position and the contempt she showed with her peers in the public prosecutor’s office, the prosecution, and the defense,” the commission stated.
“We find no justification for the judge to have presented herself in such deplorable conditions when she had the facilities of her own home and all the amenities necessary to prepare for a public hearing appropriately and with the respect such a hearing deserved.”
