Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby was found liable Tuesday in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman who said he sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion back in 1975. The woman, Judy Huth, was awarded $500,000 in damages for emotional distress.
Huth claimed she was just 16 years old when she and a friend met Cosby on the set of a film. She said the actor then invited them to join him at the Playboy mansion days later.
The woman testified that while at the mansion, she was alone with Cosby in a bedroom, where he attempted to put his hands down her pants. She said she lied that she was on her period in an attempt to get him to stop, but instead, he exposed himself and force her hand on his erect penis, using it to masturbate.
Cosby was not present at the trial however the jury was shown footage of the comedian’s 2015 deposition where he denied Huth’s allegations and said he did not recall ever meeting her. However, Huth’s lawyer came with receipts, showing a photo of the two at the mansion.
Huth said she filed the lawsuit in December 2014, years after the alleged assault, after multiple allegations against Cosby from other women triggered flashbacks of her interaction with the comedian.
Cosby was released from prison nearly a year ago after his conviction was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
