As we start the new year, it’s essential to set goals. The best way to manifest these goals is to be intentional and consider what one wants. This past year gave us much to think about: family, friends, and most importantly ourselves. With a need for clarity during this time, a vision board might do the trick.

Visualization is an important part of achieving what you want. When creating a vision board, be sure to collect images and words that symbolize your goals, dreams, and ideas.

According to Huffington Post, studies have shown that we can achieve up to 75 percent of our goals when we identify them, write them down, and tell a friend. The extra accountability of someone else knowing what you want to achieve can be the push you need to accomplish your goals.

Here are five steps to creating a vision board:

  1. Set your intentions. Relax and reflect on goals for the year ahead. Take away all obstacles and imagine what is possible in your life.
  2. Create and Cut. Buy a poster and pull pictures from magazines or other print images you find on the internet to symbolize your goals.
  3. Design vision board layout. Set all photo’s on the board before gluing in place and attach photos as you go.
  4. Include pictures of yourself. Make sure to add specific words and phrases and add quotes that inspire you.
  5. Put the vision board in a place where you can see it every day. The more likely you are to see your vision board and all your dreams, the more likely you will remember them and work toward them each day.

As your dreams are realized, date them on the imageboard. At the end of the year, review your vision board and circle the manifested images. This is the most intentional way to start the new year.
