The Crystal Bay Casino in Nevada near Lake Tahoe has settled a class-action lawsuit involving a data breach that affected over 86,000 people in November 2022. The breach exposed personal information of employees and Player’s Club members. Despite denying any wrongdoing, the casino agreed to resolve the 27-page lawsuit.

Affected individuals who received a data breach notice from Crystal Bay are eligible for compensation.

Payments of up to $500 can be claimed for expenses such as bank fees, communication costs, and lost time.

Additionally, members with documented losses related to identity theft or fraud between June 1, 2022, and June 4, 2024, can receive up to $10,000 in compensation. For those without proof of payment or not claiming specific losses, the settlement offers a cash payment ranging from $25 to $50 and three years of free credit monitoring.

Class members must file a claim using this form by June 4, 2024 to benefit from the settlement.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is May 6, 2024.
