Following the aftermath of the Capitol siege, police had no choice but to increase security measures. The increase in security has left officers feeling overworked, a very concerning factor leading up to Inauguration Day.
According to TMZ, many officers are feeling “depleted.” Metropolitan PD has been recruited to assist Capitol Police, both “working a minimum of 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week, with no clear end in sight.”
“12-14 hour days with no breaks … and everyone’s fatigued,” a source revealed to TMZ.
Being attentive on the day of President-elect Joe Biden’s Inauguration is critical, but many law enforcement fear they will not be in their best shape when the day comes.
Capitol Police say that leadership within the agency is who to blame for the chaos. Adding that they are more concerned with the “image” more than anything else.
Some law enforcement personnel have already resigned.
According to a source, a common question being asked by the officers is … “how are we supposed to be 100 percent if we’re already spent?”
Well into February, officers are expected to see little of their families.
Inauguration Day is Wednesday, Jan. 20.
