DaBaby won’t have to pay any money after a jury found him not liable for breach of contract battery, and defamation in a $6 million federal lawsuit stemming from a brawl between the rapper and a Miami club promoter.

In 2020, DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, and his friends were hit with allegations of beating and robbing club promoter Kenneth Carey and his friend. The promoter failed to pay DaBaby’s fee that had been allegedly settled, and DaBaby handled it physically, resorting to violence. Carey and his friend claimed to be missing their cell phones and money.

Though DaBaby’s criminal charge was dropped, there was still a pending federal lawsuit where the rapper would have to pay $6 million. The trial wrapped up Monday with the jury finding in favor of Kirk.

The “Baby on Baby” rapper’s attorney, Drew Findling, released a statement.

“Along with our client, Jonathan Kirk (DaBaby), we are thrilled that this federal jury, after a five-day trial, came to the same conclusion that we have maintained for almost 3 years – that these plaintiffs were attempting to use the legal system to shake down Mr. Kirk.”

He continued, “Mr. Kirk deserves all the credit in the world for not caving in to these plaintiffs’ cash demands and having the confidence in the facts and his legal team to take this to a jury trial for a complete and total victory!”

The rapper still faces other unrelated charges, including copyright infringement and felony battery assault.

The “Industry Baby” rapper was captured posing with his legal team after his huge victory.
