Dame Dash Says Jay-Z’s Breath Used to Smell Like “Cinnamon Doo-Doo”

Jay-Z spent his Roots Picnic set firing shots, and Dame Dash was always going to be the one to fire back the loudest. On The Art of Dialogue, Dame heard the freestyle, clocked the lines aimed at him, and decided the best response was not another verse but a full roast of how Jay looked and, somehow, how his breath used to smell.

He opened on the hair. Jay showed up to Belmont Plateau with a big afro after years of freeform locs, and Dame could not let it go. He said the style was so distracting he could barely hear the lyrics, then started questioning whether any of it was even real. He wanted to know who talked Jay into the look and how they got the hair to sit like that, joking that nobody bothered to film the before and after the way they should have.

Here is where the bit falls apart. Beyoncé’s Cecred brand has already posted about Jay’s afro as his actual hair, so the wig theory was dead on arrival. Dame kept swinging anyway, eventually landing on a new nickname for his old partner. He started calling him “Dookie Wick,” a shot at the texture of the new hair, and floated a slogan to go with it, telling everybody it was time to “make him great again.”

Then he reached all the way back for the pettiest jab of the day. Dame claimed Jay’s breath used to stink and that he would chew Big Red to cover it, which Dame summed up as “cinnamon doo-doo.” It is the kind of insult that has nothing to do with the music and everything to do with two men who have been circling each other for twenty years.

That is really the backdrop for all of it. Dame and Jay built Roc-A-Fella side by side, then split into two very different lives. Dame has been open about his money problems in recent years, while Jay sits at the top of the culture, and that contrast hangs over every word. The Roots Picnic freestyle just gave Dame a reason to pick the conversation back up, and he took it as far as a Big Red joke would let him.

Jay, as usual, has not said a word back.
