Damon, the 22 year old son of Roc-A-Fella co-founder Dame Dash, was arrested after a reported physical altercation with his girlfriend, Chelsea, in Manhattan, according to the New York Post and law enforcement sources.
Law enforcement officials told the Post that the couple argued at his apartment on Tuesday, September 24. They allege Damon punched and slapped Chelsea, shoved her onto a bed and grabbed her by the throat. Police say the two briefly made up before a second argument led Chelsea to call police. The misdemeanor complaint reportedly says he placed both hands around her neck and squeezed tightly, to the point that she had trouble breathing. A source told the Post she suffered bruises, a black eye and a cut lip, and the complaint alleges red marks were left on her neck.
Damon was arraigned on Wednesday on misdemeanor assault and strangulation charges. He was released without bail and ordered to have no contact with Chelsea. No public response from Damon or his father was reported at the time of this post.
These are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Domestic violence is serious. If you or someone you know needs help, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is available around the clock at 800 799 7233.
