Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez have been close since they starred in Barney together as kids and became even closer when they both had their time on Disney Channel.
But now Demi says she and Selena are no longer friends.
Back in January, Demi performed at the Grammys in her first public performance since her drug overdose in 2018.
Selena Gomez wrote about the performance on Instagram to support Lovato, who we thought was her girl from way back when. “I wish there were words to describe how beautiful, inspirational, and DESERVED this moment was. Demi, I’m so happy for you. Thank you for your courage and bravery,’ she said of the performance.
But in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Demi said she took Selena’s words of support differently.
“When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her, so the post felt …,” Demi said before stopping mid-sentence. “I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”
It’s not clear what happened to spark the falling out, but Demi said that the only other Disney star she’s stayed in touch with was Miley Cyrus.
“I talk to Miley [Cyrus],” she said. “She’s awesome, and I love her to death and always will, always have. But I think she’s kind of the only one from that era that I still stay in touch with.”
