Derek Jeter is being sued by the company behind the underwear brand Frigo, and 50 Cent has weighed in, according to TMZ and court documents reported on November 18, 2015.
TMZ reports that Jeter signed a three year deal in 2011 to serve as a director of the Swedish underwear company. The lawsuit alleges that in 2013 Jeter told Frigo he did not want his involvement made public when the brand launched in the United States. Frigo then brought on 50 Cent as a face for the brand, and the rapper has been promoting it on social media for more than a year.
Frigo’s majority owner, Mathias Ingvarsson, claims in the $4.7 million lawsuit that Jeter felt 50 Cent’s involvement would make the brand too “urban,” and that Jeter backed out as a result. The company says it lost $30 million in value. These are the company’s allegations, and they have not been proven.
A representative for Jeter had no comment, according to TMZ.
50 Cent reacted on Instagram, saying he was no longer a Yankees fan and adding, “LETS GO METS?” The two have appeared at a few events together in the past.
